[Photos] Obudu Ranch Mudslide Traps Over 15 Persons

A mudslide occurred at the foot of Obudu Mountain Resort which is preparing to host the world mountain race community in few weeks’ time.

Over 15 persons are said to still be trapped in the mud while excavators provided by the Central China Engineering and Construction Company, CCECC, are trying the clear the mud to create an alternative route.
A timber trader and eyewitness of the incident, Mr. Augustine Akomaye told CrossRiverWatch that “A group of tourists from the Federal Capital who were caught in the mudslide could no longer go up the mountain and were scared of using the cable car. They had to be airlifted by Air Force helicopter to the heights.

Perhaps the most anticipated performance of the night, Wizzy practically shut the place down as he took the surging crowd through his numerous hits.
Starting from “No lele” off his debut album, he ran through other songs, performing with the full complement of a band as the audience sang along rapturously. At a point, he was joined by legendary Femi Kuti as they both performed “Jaiye Jaiye” to the immense delight of the crowd.

The death penalty is not just for kidnappers who kill their victims, its for all acts of kidnapping whether it involves murder or not. Policeman, Two Others Killed as Youths Confront Police in Ogoja

A policeman and two youths have been reportedly killed in Ogoja local government area in the northern part of Cross River State as Ishibori youths confront police over failed attempt to arrest the chief of the area.
According to a source, Mr. Chris Igbaji, who lives in Ishibori, a team of policemen from Calabar went to arrest a youth whose name was given as Tom at the Ndok junction some two kilometers from the Ogoja town but “the police did not see the young man and they decided to take the chief of the area into custody so that the Ndok community would produce the boy but the youths mobilized to stop the arrest of their chief and this led to confrontation and the police shot one of the youths to death.”
